Jocelyn thought she knew everything there was to know about Ddeveraux but she is soon to fin Jocelyn has had a rather rough life. Surprisingly, this was a clean read. This story grabbed me from the first chapter and kept me up too late that night and the next day I couldn’t wait to jump right back into Jocelyn’s life.

Seemed to take me forever to read it between work and holiday preparations. Didn’t particularly like a single character or care what happened to any of lavener.

Not sure why I keep trying this author. From Sara to Tess, Luke to Miss Edi, people in the novel are often misrepresented because of the perceptions other townspeople have of them. When Edilean passes away, she leaves all morniny worldly possessions to Joce — including an eighteenth-century house and a letter with clues to a decades-old mystery.

Their witty banter really light up the mood. Not knowing kind of spoiled the book for me. I am sorry but I was not interested morinng to want to read the next book in the Edilean series. Jocelyn never knew that Miss Eddie had lived in Edilean and little by little we see Joce find love, and get to read about Miss Eddie’s mysterious past. Deveraux created two generations of remarkable characters, beginning with Miss Edi and morningg friends, and ending with Jocelyn and the friends she makes, including her two tenants.


Bertrand did very well. I like this author, I just think she missed the mark with this one I liked the premise for this novel, but it seemed to drag on and on. I fell in love with Luke and wanted for Jocelyn and Luke to be together, an unexpected ending. Her wealthy mother married the local handyman.
